Tecnomodel 1:18 BRM P261 diecast model car review
Published on: 02 January 2024
Tecnomodel recently announced four examples of the BRM P261 Formula One car in 1:18 scale; two each from 1965 and 1966.
The most significant version is probably Jackie Stewart’s #32 example from the 1965 Italian GP, as this was the occasion of the Scot’s very first F1 victory. 1965 was Stewart’s debut season in grand prix racing, and he impressed greatly, taking a podium in just his second world championship start, and following that up with three more before taking the win at Monza towards the end of the season.
Tecnomodel is also producing Graham Hill’s Monaco GP-winning P261 from the 1965 campaign. This was the third of Hill's five career victories around the Monte Carlo streets.
The first 1966 BRM P261 that Tecnomodel is replicating is also a Monaco GP winner, except that this time it was driven by Stewart, who scored his second grand prix win. The Scot didn’t have as successful a time of it that year, not troubling the podium again after his success in the season opener. The final P261 that Tecnomodel is offering is Bob Bondurant’s privateer example from the 1966 Belgian GP. After finishing fourth at Monaco the American was one of several drivers to crash out on the first lap at Spa, after getting caught out by the treacherous weather conditions.
