Spark 1-18 Verstappen 2021 Turkish Grand Prix Red Bull RB16B diecast model car review

One of the white-hot (see what we did there!) new Spark 1:18 replicas that recently arrived with us is Max Verstappen’s one-off ‘Honda tribute’ Red Bull from the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix.

Last year’s Turkish GP, of course, saw the Red Bull team running a one-off white livery. This was to pay tribute to outgoing engine supplier: Honda. The paint scheme was initially intended to have been run at Honda’s home race in Japan, but when that race was cancelled because of COVID the decision was taken to run it in Turkey instead.

In challenging weather conditions Verstappen took a solid second place in Istanbul last season, once again re-taking the championship lead from Lewis Hamilton during their sensational title battle. The model comes complete with the green-walled intermediate tyres that Max used during the race.

Red Bull hardly ever change their livery, so this ‘Honda tribute’ car has understandably proven to be extremely collectible. Indeed, Spark’s 1:43 replica of this machine sold out within days of arriving with us. We wouldn’t be surprised to see its larger sibling go the same way very soon.
