Spark 1-18 Stewart 1971 Tyrrell 003 diecast model car review
Published on: 02 January 2024
Having run Matras for several years, Ken Tyrrell produced his first Formula One car towards the end of the 1970 season; the 001. This was then replaced by the 003 after the first race of the 1971 campaign, and Jackie Stewart used it to great effect, storming to the second of his three world titles.
The Scot won six of that year’s 11 races, triumphing in Spain, Monaco, France, Britain, Germany and Canada. He ended the year with almost double the points of championship runner-up Ronnie Peterson.
Spark has based its 1:18 replica of Stewart’s 1971 Tyrrell 003 from the British Grand Prix, featuring the more rounded bodywork as opposed to the angular lines of the car earlier in the season. Stewart won his home race from Peterson by just over half a minute.
