Norev Citroen ID19 1957 - Capucine Orange/Cream 1:12 model car Product Information
Norev 1:12 diecast model of the 1957 Citroen ID19 in Capucine Orange/cream. Citroen introduced its DS19 model in 1955. However, as it was 65% more expensive than the car it replaced (the Traction Avant), it unsurprisingly didn't sell all that well, especially as France was still recovering economically from World War II. And so, in 1957, the cheaper ID19 sub-model was introduced. The ID shared the DS's body, so it enjoyed the same aerodynamic, futuristic looks, but it was less powerful and less luxurious. Although it shared the same engine capacity as the motor of the DS (1,911 cc), it was downrated to 69 bhp compared to the 75 bhp claimed for its more affluent sibling. The power output was further widened in 1961 when the DS19 acquired a Weber 32 twin-bodied carburettor. The ID19 was also more traditional mechanically; it was devoid of power steering and came with a conventional transmission and clutch as opposed to the DS's hydraulically controlled set-up. Initially, the ID19 was put on sale with a price saving of more than 25% against the DS, although the differential was reduced at the end of 1961 when Citroen withdrew the entry-level ID19 Normale.
