Norev Aston Martin DB5 1963 - Silver Birch 1:12 model car Product Information
Norev 1:12 diecast model of the 1963 Aston Martin DB5 in Silver Birch. The DB5 was produced from 1963 to 1965, and became a cultural icon after being featured in a couple of Sean Connery James Bond movies; particularly Goldfinger. An evolution of the final series of the DB4, it was designed by Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera. Principal differences between the DB5 and its predecessor were the all-aluminium engine, which was enlarged from 3.7 to 4.0 litres, a new ZF five-speed transmission which was more robust than the earlier David Brown unit, and three SU carburettors. The engine produced 282 bhp, which was able to propel the car to 145 mph. Standard features on the DB5 included reclining seats, wool pile carpets, electric windows, twin fuel tanks, chrome wire wheels, oil cooler, full leather trim in the cabin and a fire extinguisher. All models had two doors and a 2+2 seating configuration. Like the DB4, the DB5 had a live rear axle. Initially, the original four-speed manual gearbox (with optional overdrive) was standard fitment, but before long it was dropped in favour of the ZF five-speed box. A three-speed Borg-Warner DG automatic transmission was also available. The automatic option was changed to Borg-Warner’s Model 8 offering shortly before the DB5 found itself replaced by the DB6.
