KK Lamborghini Countach LP 5000S QV 1985 - White 1:12

KK 1:12 diecast model of the 1985 Lamborghini Countach LP 5000S QV in white. The LP5000S QV was the ultimate incarnation of the phenomenal Lamborghini Countach. The original Countach was developed as a successor to the Miura, which had well and truly established Lamborghini as a serious player in the sportscar market upon its launch in 1966. But come the turn of the decade new competitors including the Ferrari Daytona had emerged on the scene, and the Miura was now beginning to show its age. Despite Ferruccio Lamborghini’s penchant for comfortable grand tourers, he recognised that a raw, uncompromising machine was required, with looks to match. The car was a long time in the making; a prototype was first shown to the public at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show, but production didn’t start on the car until three years later. The car’s signature V-shaped rear wing was an optional extra, which most owners plumped for, determining that the bold aesthetic feature more than made up for the 10 mph sacrifice of top speed. The Countach continued to evolve over the years. In 1985 the final version, the LP5000S QV, was introduced. Not only was the car’s mighty V12 engine bored out to 5,167 cc, but it now had four valves per cylinder (quattro valvole, hence the QV in the designation). The carburettors were also moved from the sides to the top of the engine for better cooling; unfortunately this created a hump on the engine cover, reducing the already poor rear visibility to almost zero. These changes combined saw the machine’s power rocket from 375 bhp to 455 bhp, enabling a top speed of close to 200 mph.
