The car was put off strategy in the closing stages when it had to pit to have a flapping door secured, Nielsen then having to nurse the machine through its final stint to ensure that it had enough energy to reach the finish without needing to pit again. This he managed to do, and the trio took the Scuderia's second consecutive win in the famed endurance race.
